Does it ever seem that philosophers think in and write about threes? Threefold this and threefold that...does the number 3 have a logic all its own? What is it about the number 3 that keeps us mesmerized?

As we learn math we begin to see that puzzels are not only fun (or madning) to solve, but puzzels teach us how important numbers are philosophically. Even beyond the logic of numbers, there is magic to numbers that seem to be culturally specific. The number one. The number three. The number thirty-three. Some western philosophers seem to have imagined that God thinks in numbers, or that mathematics is the language of the gods. A language of perfection. Logic and mathematics seem to work from the expectation that there will always be an answer. Is it our lack of understanding, our lack of imagination, our lack of attention span, but it seems that even the questions of logic and math eventually come crashing against the metaphysical thresholds.
